PhD Program 'Biomedical Ethics and Law' Law Track

Law Track

The Law Track of the PhD Program Biomedical Ethics and Law is designed for particularly qualified jurists who wish to focus on the theoretical and practical expertise required for academic practice in the fields of national and international medical law, health law and bioethics in both research and teaching.

The Law Track is offered by the Faculty of Law. Interested persons must go through a selection procedure beginning with a written application.

In addition to writing their dissertation, our doctoral candidates attend a curriculum consisting of modules that are worth 30 ECTS credits in total. 

The curriculum of this PhD program consists of modules that are mostly held in German and require a sufficient level of the German language. However, the dissertation may be written in English upon request. Non-German speaking jurists may apply for associated participation to take our English modules

Graduate Campus

The Graduate Campus of the University of Zurich was founded to support PhD students and Postdocs during their scientific career. The Graduate Campus offers financing for interdisciplinary activities, access to a big network of researchers and organizes courses in the field of "multidiciplinary competences".
